Because of space limitation, this beautiful truck has to be put up for sale
(The yellow hot rod, the Red one isn’t for sale, sorry)
This truck was originally a FRAME UP RESTORATION
However due to loss of use of my left leg, the flat head engine and standard transmission was removed and a 350 c.i. Chevrolet engine and TH350 transmission has been installed.
The engine and trans were professionally built. It is a 4 bolt main, fully balanced and blue printed with a propane cam and heads.
Strangely enough, the propane cam has better lift and duration than a stock one. Heads reworked; hardened seats for unleaded gas are standard in propane heads, and the valves are polished.
4 barrel carb (750) on an Edelbrock intake and a few chrome dress pieces. In addition to the 350/350 combination, it has POWER STEERING and POWER DISK BRAKES on the front.
Custom built STAINLESS fuel tank and electric fuel pump.
All running gear, axles, wheels, springs, drive shaft, etc AND the frame are POWDER COATED. The frame is the same colour as the body.
The running boards are powder coated black
The rear end is an 8 inch Ford (3.78) with 10 inch WIDE wheels (15 inch) and fairly new rubber. It still uses the transverse spring with Monroe air over shocks. (You can add air to raise the deck for tire clearance if it’s loaded heavily.)
The front end is an “I” beam axle with a transverse spring with reversed eyes. Along with a couple of leaves removed; it lowered the front end about 2 ¾ inches. It still uses the stock wishbones, split at the transmission.
The front wheels are 8 inch wide by 15 inch with tires only a couple years old. It has telescoping shocks which along with a few leaves taken out of the front spring, and the fat tires on the front, results in a very smooth ride.
It handles VERY well.
At over 100mph (this was at Bonneville on the salt!) it tracked “straight as an arrow.” Was actually clocked at about 114!! (That’s where the picture was taken) It was driven down and back and performed flawlessly. And it has been driven to quite a few runs without ANY problems.
The interior has been fully upholstered (was re-done professionally in 1998), including the door panels; which are not upholstered in a stock truck. It also has two retractable seat belts.
There is an AM/FM, Cassette and D stereo system (mounted in the glove compartment) There is also a six disk CD changer mounted under the dash.
The dash is custom made with Stewart Warner gauges. Because all the gauges would not fit in the stock opening, a couple are in the glove compartment, with the tach on the steering column.
Value:
The appraised value (for 2005/2006 insurance and plates) was $48,500.00 CAD
Original build cost was over $65,000.00.
The asking price is $40,000.00
Serious offers will be considered.
