The "Oldest Hot Rod" in the Foothills SRA is certainly this 1912 Ford
Model T Speedster designed and built by Murray Walkemeyer. The T
is as awesome to listen to as it is to look at and brings an era of Hot
Rod history to the club that is often overlooked by rodders and restorers
the world over.
This car is not finished, "it requires some paint and detail work",
says Murray. Paint and detail that easy for the rest of us to overlook
while admiring the craftsmanship that has gone into Murrays "high school
dream".
”Hot Rodding” started with the Model T Ford in the early teens. There
were a lot of different speed equipment and custom accessories available
for the Model T – everything from complete racing bodies to dual overhead
cam cylinder heads.
This car was built and designed by Murray Walkemeyer following a style
that was popular in those years.

The Engine: 176 CID 4 Cylinder (Original Horsepower 20), now houses a Model A crank shaft and full pressure oiling system. You'll also find a distributor ignition under the hood instead of the original Model T "Buzz Box". Murray has also equipped the speedster with a 12 Volt alternator equipped electrical system. |
